A law enforcement source told the LA Times that approximately 30 shots were fired and that victims were at multiple locations as they fled. Police were apparently advised that the suspect was a Middle Eastern man in his early 20s with a beard and wearing all black clothing. That has not been confirmed officially, though.
At 11:55pm, law enforcement reported that a California Highway Patrol officer had engaged a suspect and that a man matching the description was down with three gunshot wounds.
