Puig ends season with 'head held high'

Monica Puig has confirmed that her 2018 season has now drawn to a close - but added that she is proud of her achievements in the past months.
"I will walk away from this season with my head held high because each year proves to be a lesson to help me grow as a person and as an athlete," she wrote in a statement on social media.
"Time to recharge the batteries for the preseason," she added.
The Puerto Rican retired from her match against Margarita Gasparyan at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz earlier in the week with a right leg injury.
She has suffered other injuries over the course of the year, including a hip problem that forced her to miss the French Open.
However, she has also enjoyed some good form, including a run to the quarterfinals in Monterrey, Quebec and Wuhan, and a semifinal appearance in Connecticut.
