Johanna Konta's hopes of making a historic Wimbledon final end as she is thrashed by Venus Williams

Venus Williams produced a virtuoso performance as she eased into the final of Wimbledon courtesy of a 6-4 6-2 victory over Britain’s Johanna Konta.

The five-time Wimbledon winner will face Spain’s Garbine Muguruza in Saturday’s final after she beat the British number one in just over an hour.
Konta was on the front foot for most of the first set and crafted a couple of break points in the ninth game but was unable to convert.
And the 37-year-old American made her pay in the very next game - taking the second of three breaks on offer - to win the first set 6-4.
Williams broke twice in the second set before, using all her guile and experience to see it out and reach a first final in SW19 since 2009.
